Can I install my Giagni faucet by myself?

Sink mounted kitchen and bathroom faucets can be installed by most homeowners comfortable with simple do-it-yourself projects. Only simple tools are needed. But be prepared for the two most common problems: a second trip to the hardware store for the appropriate connectors, or difficulty in removing the old faucet.

Deck mounted roman tub fillers, behind-the-wall tub and shower valves and shower systems require special skills and tools. We recommend that they be installed by licensed plumbers or experienced do-it-yourselfers.

Why does my new faucet flow less water than my old faucet?

Recent government regulations forced manufacturers to install flow restrictors in all faucets and showerheads. The exception is tub filling spouts. This is in an effort to conserve water.

Does Giagni's finishes match other companies' finishes?

Many finishes are basic colors that have been adopted by most decorative home product companies. Chrome, polished brass and satin or brushed nickel are examples of standardized finishes that will be very close in color. Giagni's Millennium Brass has the same color as most polished brass finishes, just using a more durable PVD process (see below). Other finishes like oil rubbed bronze, antiqued or distressed finishes, and others can vary significantly. It doesn't mean they can't be used together on a project, but the homeowner needs to be understanding when combining special finish products.

 What is PVD?

It is an acronym for "Physical Vapor Deposition." It is the premier process used to create durable special finishes for faucets. Our Millennium Brass is PVD, which means it will not scratch, peel or tarnish like the polished brass finishes of the past.

How many holes are needed in my sink deck to install my kitchen faucet?

Our kitchen faucets allow for a wide variety of mounting options. All our kitchen faucets that have side sprays can be mounted in one less hole if desired by eliminating the spray. We include the hardware. Faucets that have wide, flat deck plates have the option of using the plate to cover the two outside holes or removing the plate to mount in a single hole. Extra holes can be filled with a Giagni soap dispenser.

What kind of cleaner can I use on my Giagni faucet?

Giagni does not recommend any specific cleanser. Usually warm water and a soft cloth does the trick. If there's an accumulation of white deposits around the faucet, a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water is best. If necessary, most faucet finishes can be cleaned with most non-abrasive household cleaners when used according to the manufacturers' instructions for use. Immediately after cleaning your faucet, wash off remaining cleanser with water.

How can I clean a clogged showerhead?

We suggest soaking your showerhead in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water for one hour. White vinegar will facilitate the break down of mineral deposits and sediment build-up.

What does Pressure Balance and Thermostatic mean?

Both are methods used to maintain safe and comfortable shower faucet temperatures when other water-consuming appliances in the home are used (dishwasher, garden hose, toilet or washing machine). These appliances can intermittently change the balance of water pressures being supplied to a shower valve. Older shower valves not having these features will mirror those pressure changes by changing the temperature of the outgoing shower, leading to discomfort and even injury.

Pressure balance valves compensate for the pressure changes caused by these appliances.

The result is a fairly consistent shower temperature and protection against accidental scalding.

Thermostatic valves also compensate for these pressure changes, and offer protection against accidental scalding. In addition, they compensate for any temperature changes of the incoming hot and cold supplies. This creates a very consistent water temperature regardless of conditions. The additional advantage of thermostatic valves is that they have very high flow rates and are desired.
